At this past weekend’s “Rally to Restore Sanity,” Jon Stewart told us that we must have been delusional these past 10 years — that if we had only been civil and compromising the Republicans would not have filibustered issues like health care reform; They would have willingly compromised and not filibustered on issues like the extension of unemployment benefits for jobless Americans; They would have gladly given Democrats everything they wanted on issues like reforming / regulating Wall Street; Or an energy policy that is sane or global climate change. The truth is the only time Obama and the Democrats made any progress at all was when they admitted that there is no bipartisan possibility with the Republican Teabaggers who are owned and operated by Goldman Sachs, Exxon, Boeing, and McDonald’s.
