At least three people were injured on Tuesday when shots were fired at a community college in Houston, Texas. Officials announced an evacuation at 12:52pm on its website. The evacuation cited an incident involving “a couple of armed suspects”.  Authorities have detained a person of interest. The school’s official Twitter feed said the shooting was between two people and that the situation was under control.  Students reported that they heard what sounded like fireworks exploding on campus.

The Lone Star College System has an enrollment of 90,000 students and six college campuses, according to its website. It is the largest higher-education institution in Houston and the fastest growing community college system in Texas. Four nearby schools in the Aldine Independent School District also went into lock-down on Tuesday as a result of the shooting.
