Last week, a court ruled that the city of Detroit can go ahead with their Chapter 9 bankruptcy filings, setting a precedent for counties all over the country who are facing financial hardships.  The court also ruled that the public pension programs funded by the government were subject to severe cuts, a move that puts the workers in Detroit in an even worse position.
