Adam Kwasman is a Republican candidate running for a congressional seat in Arizona and looks like the latest GOP puppet in the shameful situation at the border. Yet again, the GOP proves that there is no bottom to their desperation and nothing sacred they will not exploit to try and squeeze for political gain.

Kwasman saw a school bus full of children passing a housing facility for undocumented minors on Tuesday and, as any good GOP candidate would, snapped a photo and posted it on Twitter. The message?

“Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law.”

Kwasman has since deleted the tweet but a screenshot of it is available here at Politwoops.

Later Kwasman spoke of “the fear” he saw in the children’s faces and wanted desperately for authorities to enforce border restrictions more sternly to prevent these children from crossing into the U.S.

Unfortunately for Kwasman’s fantasy narrative of abused, neglected, and terrified migrant children left to suffer under the oppression of big government, the kids on his school bus were just on their way to a local YMCA camp.

In fact, other reports say that the kids in no way reflected Kwasman’s interpretation. According to HuffPo, a reporter at the scene said that “he saw the children laughing and taking pictures with their iPhones.”

A far cry from the “fear” that Kwasman claims to have seen.

But the truth rarely seems to get in the way of a good story for the GOP. Especially when that story backs up conclusions they have already drawn, like the fact that we’ve needed to impeach Obama since about the time he was sworn into office.

Kwasman, unlike his GOP counterparts, may not be as quick on his feet though and issued a speedy walk-back on his prior statements.
“OK I apologize. I didn’t know. I was leaving when I saw them. People are not happy down the line. That was an error by me. Those were not migrant children. That’s fine. It was a mistake. That was a mistake. That was not correct and that’s a mistake.”
