When news of the patients infected with the Ebola virus traveling back to the United States hit the public, there was, as expected, a fearful response from many. However, that fear is largely baseless as the virus must be transmitted via bodily fluid of the infected and in the US and other high-income nations, the measures are in place to prevent the transmission of the virus and properly quarantine and care for the infected.

That doesn’t stop the people desperate for attention from jumping on the fear-train and trying to ride it as far as possible. That’s exactly what Donald Trump did over the weekend when he called returning the Americans infected with Ebola to the US for treatment “crazy”.

To be fair, he did claim that they should receive the “highest level” of treatment, just not here in the US. Though, it seems that he thinks treating them is just too much as “THE UNITED STATES HAS ENOUGH PROBLEMS”.

Ebola is, according to Trump, a consequence that these people “must suffer”.

He even found an opportunity to make a thinly-veiled border reference.

Let this serve as a reminder of the repugnant cruelty GOP talking-heads are capable of.
