Leave it to the gun-nuts to exploit the horrific deaths of James Foley and Steven Sotloff in an effort to drive sales. In what may just be the most tasteless and offensive advertising moves of the day, the store Tactical Firearms called for a beheading of one of the Obama family members in order to get “change”.

The text of the sign reads thus:

“Does one of Obamas [sic] family members have to be beheaded for “change” to happen?”

What does the company’s CEO, Jeremy Alcede, think such inflammatory and low-brow dialogue will achieve? Well, when he was asked by the local news station (KHOU) what he sees as the outcome, it has to do with educating people, he thinks.

“We’ve tried to educate people, but they’re not listening,” Alcede said.

Clearly though, the store owner is just seeking to align himself with a particular demographic to boost sales. A tactic the NRA knows quite well. What he said is protected as free speech but it is condemnable in the courts of poor taste.
