A recent review of the proposed Texas public school textbooks found that the state was trying to basically rewrite history, leaving out pertinent information on civil rights, civil disobedience, Japanese internment camps, etc., while focusing on conservative ideals, leaders, and economic policies.

The Texas Education Freedom Network found the textbooks were rife with inaccuracies and false information, and that “a number of textbook passages essentially reflect the ideological beliefs of politicians on the state board rather than sound scholarship and factual history,” according to Network president Kathy Miller.
