Steve Emerson appeared on Fox News yesterday as a guest terrorism “expert” who could tell the Fox News audience everything about terrorism in Europe. However, his “expertise” angered lots of Brits, including the British Prime Minister David Cameron, reported Raw Story.
Emerson went on Fox News and said that the entire population of the English city of Birmingham was “totally Muslim.”
And in Britain, it’s not just no-go zones, there are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go in,” he said. “And parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn’t dress according to Muslim, religious Muslim attire. So there’s a situation that Western Europe is not dealing with.
Here’s the entire video. It’s cringe-inducing.
Afterwards, Emerson realized his atrocious error and told the BBC that he had made a mistake. “As far as my statement, the statement about Birmingham, I was relying on information that was totally incorrect,” said Emerson. However, he wouldn’t tell where the information came from.
After retracting the statement and admitting his “egregious error,” Emerson is uncertain about whether or not Fox News will have him appear on the network again. This incident is indicative of not only the incompetence of Emerson, but also the incompetence of Fox News.
The comical about this situation is the response from British PM David Cameron.
“When I heard this, I choked on my porridge and I thought it must be April Fool’s Day. This guy is clearly a complete idiot,” said Cameron. “What he should do is look at Birmingham and see what a fantastic example it is of bringing people together of different faiths, different backgrounds.”
For those interested, according to the 2011 British census, 46 percent of the population was Christian and 21 percent were Muslim.
