Police have arrested a man for the shooting of two police officers outside the Ferguson, Missouri Police Department. Jeffrey Williams, 20, was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, one count of firing a weapon from a vehicle, and three counts of armed criminal action in connection with last week’s shooting, ABC News reported.
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch said Williams fired the shots from a car driving through an area where protesters were gathered, and that it was unclear whether the police officers were his intended target since Williams had told investigators that he was “involved in some sort of dispute prior to the shooting.”
While it appears that Williams is the only person who actually fired shots, McCulloch said there may be other “participants” involved and that the investigation is still ongoing.
