Guns have killed more people than car accidents in 17 states, according to an analysis done by the Violence Policy Center (VPC), reported Addicting Info.
The VPC used data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that listed the number of deaths from guns compared to car accidents. The data showed that in Tennessee, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wyoming, gun deaths outnumbered automobile deaths. There are also more gun deaths the District of Columbia.
WRCB in Tennessee reported that 94 percent of households in the state own a car, and only 46 percent of households own a gun.
“I don’t think there’s much political [sic] will to get any action on gun control,” said Nashville resident Michael Zoorob. “So I’m pretty jaded on that. But I think in principle, gun access should be restricted more than it is.”
