A man accused of calling and harassing the staff of Sandy Hook Elementary was arrested earlier this week, WFSB Eyewitness News reported.
Timothy Rogalski, 30, called and left four messages accusing the school of fabricating the December 2012 shooting that resulted in the deaths of 26 students and staff.
“I just wanted to make sure there was going to be no fake shooting on the day that I enrolled him,” Rogalski said, according to court records. “I just wanted to clarify that he wouldn’t get shot by a fake Adam Lanza.”
Rogalski also asked if it would be possible to enroll his “child” in Kaitlin Roig’s classs. Roig is the teacher who saved the lives of 15 students by barricading them and herself in a school bathroom.
In less than an hour, Rogalski made five calls to Sandy Hook, including one telling the school secretary that his “daughter” would be absent that day. When the secretary asked for the child’s name, Rogalski said “Dawn Hochsprung,” the school’s principal who was killed during the shooting.
“I know I may have offended people, but they were words, and I made no threats,” said Rogalski. “I wasn’t going to do anything.”
Rogalski is being held on $50,000 bond, has been ordered not to contact the school’s secretary, and the judge ordered a psychological exam. He is expected to appear in court again later this month.
