Apparently, Mitch McConnell just can’t get enough of the government spying on American citizens. Last Tuesday, he introduced a bill that would reauthorize some of the very worst parts of the Patriot Act through 2020. Included in this reauthorization is Section 215, which the government uses to justify the spying of phone and email records.
Democrats like Vermont senator Patrick Leahy have blasted McConnell’s plan, stating that the entire act itself is the true problem.
America’s Lawyer, Mike Papantonio, discusses this with Truthdig’s Robert Scheer, author of the book They Know Everything About You.
