The American Civil Liberties Union recently released its Mobile Justice app, designed to record and secure video take of interactions with police, even if they try to delete it or confiscate the phone, San Diego’s ABC News 10 reported.

The app records video and then immediately sends it to the ACLU. This prevents the video from somehow “disappearing.” Once the video has been sent, the user can then add information about the encounter. It also allows the user to send notifications alerting others to come to their location and act as additional witnesses.

The app is free and is available on both Apple and Android devices.
