Ben Carson has never held office but is running for president in the 2016 election. He’s also a Tea Partier who believes some insane things and, recently, he may have outdone himself.

Carson spoke at the National Day of Prayer gathering in Washington D.C. this week when he proclaimed that God once helped him magically pass a chemistry final in college. He was failing the class, and the night before the exam he dreamed that an apparition came to him and wrote the answers on the chalkboard.

“When I went to take the test the next morning, it was like ‘The Twilight Zone,’” he said. “I opened that book and I recognized the first problem as one of the ones I dreamed about. And the next, and the next, and the next, and I aced the exam and got a good mark in chemistry. It worked out okay and I promised the Lord he would never have to do that for me again.”

Carson possesses no shortage of insane beliefs and crackpot theories. He thinks is that America is on the path towards anarchy. Last year, he said if the country “continue[s] down this pathway,” anarchy will ensue. Not only will anarchy happen, but he said it will disrupt the 2016 presidential elections.

And who could forget when he said homosexuality is choice because prison makes people that way. People “go into prison straight – when they come out, they’re gay,” he said. He also considers equal rights for gay people a “Marxist plot” and its supporters are “enemies of America.” He also has disturbing thoughts about war.

Carson said there’s no such thing as a war crime and “if you’re gonna have rules for war, you should just have a rule that says no war.”

The Affordable Care Act is also worse than slavery, said Carson. He echoes the rhetorical sentiments of his Tea Party cohorts by downplaying slavery. The ACA is nothing like slavery.

Ben Carson thinks he’s going to crusade for God and turn this country around. He’s not. He’s too crazy and on the fringe for any mainstream voters to take seriously. He won’t make it past the primaries.
