Ever since Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) joined the presidential race, Hillary Clinton has shifted her narrative to the left to give the appearance of being a progressive. However, it was found that she is charging thousands of dollars for people to attend her select speaking events, reported The Intercept.
An anonymous reader submitted an invitation letter from a Hillary Clinton campaign event to the Intercept. It invites potential donors to a “Conversation with Hillary.” The letter states that someone can attend an event in Boston for the “Friend” rate of $1,000 or the “Supporter” rate of $2,700 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Despite being described as a “grassroots campaign,” these events sound like a banquet for the privileged wealthy instead of a presidential rally for a so-called “progressive” candidate.

Clinton’s estranged relationship with everyday Americans is apparent when you consider where her past campaign contributions came from. During the 2008 election cycle, she received over $20 million from Wall Street firms and large financial institutions. Compare that figure with Bernie Sanders who, in 2012, raised a total of $1.7 million, most of which came from labor unions.
Solomon Kahn, former fellow at the Harvard University Safra Center For Ethics, recently did a Reddit AMA in which he compared the campaign contributions of Clinton and Sanders. According to Kahn, “Sanders consistently raises the least money of any senator.”
Sanders is a true grassroots candidate. Most contributions to his presidential campaign came from individual people who gave an average of $40. On the other hand, Clinton is gunning for big money targets to beef up her campaign account. She uses Citizens United to her benefit and represents the big banks, not the people.
