In an interview with CBS, Rick Santorum voiced considerable support for Donald Trump’s effort to focus on immigration as a problem facing the nation.

“I don’t agree with his comments, obviously,” said Santorum, likely fearing public backlash if he expressed his earnest sentiments.

But Santorum did mention that Trump is right to focus on the border.

“The vast majority of people coming legally into this country from Mexico and other places are people who want to do the right thing. People who are coming illegally obviously are coming with a bad intent, let’s just be honest. They’re coming in with the clear intent of breaking the law,” Santorum said. “I don’t think we can sugar-coat that but that doesn’t mean that everybody who is coming across is a rapist or a murderer or anything else. Obviously, but they are breaking the law.”
