We’ve always thought that Republican sweetheart and felon Dinesh D’Souza might be legitimately insane, but a judge has ruled that D’Souza needs to see a shrink, reported Newsweek.
U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman overruled the opinion of a first psychiatrist and ordered that D’Souza go see a different doctor for a second opinion. Psychological evaluation was part of D’Souza’s sentence regarding campaign finance law violations to which he pleaded guilty in May 2014. He was sentenced to eight months in a work-release center, five years probation, a $30,000 fine, and community service.
The first doctor said he saw no signs of depression in D’Souza. Unconvinced, Berman ordered a second evaluation for D’Souza. “I’m not singling out Mr. D’Souza to pick on him,” said Berman. “A requirement for psychological counseling often comes up in my hearings in cases where I find it hard to understand why someone did what they did.”
“That Mr. D’Souza committed this crime involves a colossal failure of insight and introspection,” said Berman. “The case notes also say Mr. D’Souza has weaknesses in controlling his own impulses and that he is prone to anger in reaction to criticism.”
Does D’Souza have some mental illness that caused him to violate campaign finance laws? One doctor already cleared him, so he probably doesn’t. D’Souza is another crooked Republican who broke the law while trying to get rich quick and got caught.
