The Ku Klux Klan has reportedly been distributing fliers in order to recruit people for a neighborhood watch group in North Charleston, South Carolina. Local news sources reported that the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan left the fliers in predominately black neighborhoods.

Cherri Delesline of North Charleston says that she felt targeted by the KKK. “They’re targeting us right now,” she said. “What did we do to them? What did we do to them to make them come around here?” The fliers feature a hooded klansman pointing like an Uncle Sam recruitment poster. It reads, “Neighborhood Watch. You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake.”

Ever since Dylann Roof shot and killed nine people at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, the KKK has been on a public relations campaign of sorts to soften its image. The campaign hasn’t worked, and the Klan’s presence has only created anger and fear in North Charleston.
