Donald Trump’s feeling must be hurt or something. Now he is talking about considering running as a third-party candidate in 2016, if the rest of the GOP doesn’t stop being jerks to him.
Trump made the comments during an interview with The Hill.
“The RNC [Republican National Committee] has not been supportive. They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy,” Trump said to The Hill. “The RNC has been, I think, very foolish.”
That’s when the interviewer reportedly asked Trump if he would consider a third-party run.
“I’ll have to see how I’m being treated by the Republicans,” he said. “Absolutely, if they’re not fair, that would be a factor.”
According to Trump, the GOP hasn’t been a fan of him because he isn’t a part of their special group.
“I’m not in the gang. I’m not in the group where the group does whatever it’s supposed to do,” Trump told The Hill. “I want to do what’s right for the country — not what’s good for special interest groups that contribute, not what’s good for the lobbyists and the donors.”
Trump sees himself at odds with the rest of the GOP field because he doesn’t have public relation officials and pollsters managing everything he says. Trump claims that this gives him an authenticity and candidness that the other candidates lack.
“I’m not surrounded by all sorts of pollsters and PR people,” he told The Hill. “I speak the truth. Our country is in big trouble, and I know how to turn it around.”
The country does not need more of the hatred and vitriol that drips so easily from Trump’s bullheaded tongue. If he really knows what’s good for this country, he’ll pack it up and call it quits today.
