After speaking vaguely during the Republican debate last week on women’s rights, and despite serious backlash to his tyrannical views, Mike Huckabee still believes that he should be able to control what women in America do with their bodies.
Speaking to ABC, Huckabee was questioned about what he means when he says he would invoke the 5th and 14th Amendments to protect fetuses.
“What I’m saying is that the real issue here is not whether we’re going to give money to Planned Parenthood,” Huckabee said. “Yes, that’s important. But the bigger issue is, is that unborn child a human being? Because if it is then the 5th and 14th Amendment apply because we’re dealing with personhood.”
“It means that you guarantee due process under the 5th amendment before you deprive someone of their life and liberty,” said Huckabee. “It means under the 14th Amendment there’s equal protection under the law. Exactly how that plays out is one of the ways that we discover. What does it take for Americans to finally wake up to the fact that we are violating the constitutional rights of human beings?”
In other words, Huckabee is willing to do everything necessary to prevent stopping abortions, just as he would do if a child or adult was being killed, including using military force.
