Many notable members of the Moral Monday movement were detained during a peaceful protest outside of the Thomas F. Eagleton United States Courthouse in St. Louis on Monday, the day after the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death, reported ThinkProgress.

Cornel West, Reverend Osagyefo Sekou, and activists Deray McKesson and Johnetta Elzie were among those arrested by local police officers. Reverend Michael Angell said protesters gathered at Christ Church Cathedral for nonviolent resistance training. The group then approached the Eagleton Courthouse. The protesters peacefully sang and chanted until the officers arrested them.
