Republican presidential candidates Chris Christie, Ted Cruz, and Scott Walker all hate teachers and teachers’ unions. Now, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) has joined the anti-teacher fold, reported RawStory.

Granted, Kasich isn’t as insane as his fellow Republicans, but he’s still in the ballpark. Speaking about teachers, Kasich said “If I were, not president, if I were king in America, I would abolish all teachers’ lounges where they sit together and worry about ‘woe is me.’” Kasich would rather them feel like that at home after he fires them all and privatizes education.

The Republican anti-teacher mission reemerged in the public mind after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said that teachers’ unions deserve a “political punch in the face.” Unions protect the wages and benefits of teachers, but the likes of Christie want to abolish teachers unions. Kasich ups the ante by saying he would abolish teachers’ lounges.

Apparently, he thinks teachers should be underpaid and not have breaks because the current GOP narrative on teachers is that they’re lazy and the reason that America is falling apart. The teachers’ lounge is an institution, built for teachers to plan their day and discuss their profession with other teachers. Kasich is trying to silence our educators.
