The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) will avoid prison for a longer period of time, reported the Huffington Post.
McDonnell was convicted last September on multiple corruption charges, but SCOTUS has delayed an appellate court’s decision requiring McDonnell to report to prison. Essentially, McDonnell doesn’t have to be incarcerated while he files a formal appeal to his convictions, which could take a long time.
“I am grateful for the Supreme Court decision today and thank Almighty God for His protection and provision for me and my family,” said McDonnell in a statement.
God didn’t bail McConnell out of serving his prison term, the American criminal justice court system did that. The odds of McDonnell having a successful appeal are very slim. He’s just delaying the inevitable and should just take his prison time as sentenced.
