Fourteen years ago, a horrific tragedy befell our nation and last week our nation engaged in a solemn day of remembrance for those lives lost. Unfortunately, conservative warmongers also saw fit to try and capitalize on the reverent nature of the day by seeding fear through the Twitter hashtag #NoIranDealBecause. The tweets generally displayed images of violence and tried to put fear into readers toward people of Middle Eastern descent.
It didn’t work though. The #NoIranDealBecause trend was taken over by progressives and levelheaded individuals who put out truth to counter the lies being spread that day.
