Queen of Hate and fascist theocrat Ann Coulter has been falling out of favor with the right-wing in recent months. For nearly two decades, Ann made quite a reputation with her raging rants and rotten rhetoric. She was more than a political pundit; thanks to Time magazine which featured her on its cover in 2005, billing her as “Ms. Right.” She was literally transformed into a pop-culture phenomenon. Suddenly, she was the female version of Rush Limbaugh, appearing everywhere – and millions of weak-minded right-wingers hung on her every word.
Now, they won’t give her the time of day. At a recent book signing for her most recent piece of pseudo-journalistic tripe, ¡Adios America!, she was heard whining, “They’re ignoring me, now!” According to Annie Lowery of The Intelligencer, Coulter’s pathetic lamentation continued:
I haven’t been on CNN yet, because I was made up, my hair was done, I was mic’ed up, I was walking to the set…He [Don Lemon] was doing a full hour on the Doogans or whatever their name is…the next night, ‘We’re going to do all Doogans again.’ And then the next week, it’s the cop who yelled at a girl in a bikini! And then it’s Bruce Jenner!
Actually, Ms. Coulter, it’s “Duggars,” not “Doogans.” The self-preoccupied Princess of Putrid and Poisonous Prose couldn’t even get that right.
There are some in the media who believe that Coulter is really a “performance artist.” According to those sources, her outrageous statements are simply meant to provoke a response, not necessarily to be taken seriously. Her entire persona is that of an entertainer; she has deliberately sown hate and dissention because it sells advertising. Be that as it may, she appears now to be a victim of her own success. Lowery speculates that by having created so much dissention between Right and Left, Coulter has caused both sides to turn inward. This has essentially taken the proverbial wind out of her sails.
In short, Ann Coulter has made herself irrelevant.
Heather Digby Parton, writing in Salon, further speculates that the world was simply grown tired of listening to her hate, her racism and her divisiveness, whether she was serious about it or simply intended to provoke outrage for the sake of putting on a good show. It may also be due to the fact that the GOP finds itself between a rock and a hard place over the immigration issue. On one hand, the aging herd of ignorant white males is hanging on every word that comes out of Donald Trump’s mouth about building walls and deporting “furriners” – an issue that Coulter’s Tweets and other writings put on steroids. On the other hand, Republicans know they cannot afford to alienate Hispanic voters (though the damage is in all likelihood, done).
Any way one spins it, Ann Coulter’s BS has worn thin on both sides – and nobody is listening, anymore. Forgive us if we aren’t mourning her demise.
Well, cry me a river, Ms. Coulter. Go find somebody who gives a tinker’s damn.
