Presidential candidate Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) may be dragging in the polls, but he’s still shooting from the anti-middle class hip. Walker not only supports drug testing welfare applicants, but he thinks it’s a “progressive” idea.
“For us, it’s not a punitive thing, it’s a progressive thing,” said Walker. “We’re trying to help people who are in need of our assistance to get jobs because the best thing we can do with them is to make sure they get the skills and education they need, and make sure they are drug free if they have an addiction, to get back in the workforce.”
After reading that quote several times, it’s apparent that Walker is lying and making up excuses to waste taxpayer money and discriminate against low-income people. How does he connect drug testing welfare applicants to curing addiction? It’s a poor attempt to put a humane shade of lipstick on an inhumane pig.
Walker is currently suing the United States government for permission to institute drug tests for welfare applicants. The U.S. Department of Agriculture stated that the federal government does not allow states to make drug tests part of the application process for welfare.
The once-hyped GOP front-runner has been reduced to a presidential punchline. The public obviously saw through his dishonesty and corporate puppet show.
