When Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush is asked a tough question by a regular citizen, his tactic is to give a short, dismissive answer and ignore the person afterward. He did that same thing when a pro-family leave activist asked Bush what he thought about paid maternity leave.

“That’s a state decision,” said Bush. “I don’t think we need more federal rules.”

The United States is one of only three countries that doesn’t offer paid maternity leave to new mothers.
