Donald Trump has called into question President George W. Bush’s ability to protect the nation from the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Trump has made the claim that 9-11 probably wouldn’t have happened under his presidency.
“I am extremely, extremely tough on illegal immigration,” said Donald Trump to Fox News. “I doubt that those people would’ve been in the country…”
Trump has been undermining Jeb Bush’s comments that Jeb’s brother did a good job of protecting the United States.
“I’m not blaming George Bush but I don’t want Jeb Bush to say, ‘My brother kept us safe,’ because Sept. 11 was one of the worst days in the history of this country,” Trump told Fox.
Defending himself and his brother, Jeb said that Trump’s comments “call into question Mr. Trump’s credibility as a commander in chief.”
“Next week Mr. Trump is probably going to say that FDR was around when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor,” Bush said to CNN. “Does anybody actually blame my brother for the attacks on 9/11? If they do they’re totally marginalized in our society. It’s what he did afterwards that matters and I’m proud of him.”
