Facing criticism that his campaign is dying, Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has tried to dismiss speculation surrounding recent budget cuts and is instead trying to spin that he was just showing good leadership.
“That’s what leaders do,” Bush said in South Carolina.
The Washington Post reported that Bush’s campaign has entered into a “death spiral” and Bush responded dismissively when he was asked about that assessment.
“Blah, blah, blah,” said Bush. “That’s my answer — blah, blah, blah.”
Bush said that current polling doesn’t matter to him much because the party will not make its selection until February and March. Yet, he also seems frustrated by the current state of the process.
“If this election is about how we’re going to fight to get nothing done, then I don’t want anything, I don’t want to be a part of it. I don’t want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock become so dominant that people are literally in decline in their lives,” Bush said on CNN.
“I’ve got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them,” he said. “That’s a joke. Elect Trump if you want that.”
