It is a common late-night sketch show tactic: Descend upon an unsuspecting American city street and proceed to ask questions of random passers-by. Inevitably, the footage is comedy gold as many questions fail to find their correct answer, often to hilarious result.
Of course, this snapshot into the average American intelligence level is telling; we, as a general rule, are not the brightest. As this video points out, even students at prestigious universities and well-known politicians are woefully ignorant on many issues.
