Just five weeks before the Iowa caucuses, and Ben Carson’s key staff leaders have called it quits. They say Carson is not ready to be President of the United States, and that the person he most relies upon should be nowhere near the Oval Office.

Barry Bennett and Doug Watts stepped down today. Bennett was Carson’s campaign manager. Watts was communications director. However, Bennett states that Carson’s longtime business manager, Armstrong Williams, is the one that Carson takes direction, even though Williams does not have a formal role in the campaign.

‘‘You have to surround yourself with good people,’’ Bennett said. ‘‘And he hasn’t demonstrated that he can do that. No one wants Armstrong Williams anywhere near the Oval Office.’’
