In the wake of the Bundy militia takedown, the FBI found it pertinent to release the video they had of the shooting of LaVoy Finicum. As of the video’s release late Thursday night, there are still several rebels still inside the refuge, and many are calling for blood and vowing to avenge the death of LaVoy Finicum, who they believe died with his hands raised in surrender.

The FBI was silent at first, but later released a statement saying that Finicum reached for a gun after fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle into a snow bank which caused police to take action. The video they released Thursday evening confirms this, as one can easily see from the helicopter footage that Finicum reaches towards his left jacket pocket twice.

The FBI confirms that they found a gun on Finicum in the left pocket of his jacket, and several other weapons in his vehicle. This footage is important in order to dispel the rumors created by a female rebel who claims that Finicum had his hands in the air, daring police to shoot him.

The FBI and other officials were worried that allowing these rumors to continue to circulate would result in more violent actions, leading to the injury or death of innocent citizens.

Arrested leader Ammond Bundy is asking that the remaining rebels return home and let those arrested “continue the fight.”
