President Obama addressed the nation this week, urging individuals to get involved with the political process in order to countaract the effects of corporate money flowing into politics.
“If 99 percent of us voted,” the president said, “It wouldn’t matter how much the 1 percent spends on our election.”
It’s an inspiring message, but one that we shouldn’t have to hear. We need a greater voter turnout AND money out of politics. It is not a zero sum game.
Campaign finance reform is an inevitable, important issue, and it is time that all politicians accept and embrace it.
Watch.
