The crowd chanted “Bernie” and “I believe that we will win” when Bernie Sanders took to the stage in Wisconsin on Saturday evening to discuss his win in Alaska and Washington.
In fact, at the beginning of his speech, he was only leading strongly in Washington, but had not yet been projected the winner until his wife Jane came onstage and whispered into his ear.
“Are ya ready for a news alert? We just won the state of Washington!” Bernie shouted triumphantly. “That is what momentum is about.”
Then, while many of us were sleeping, the numbers from Hawaii came rolling in, and what they revealed was that “momentum” for Bernie’s campaign showed no signs of slowing.
Bernie Sanders strongly won all three states in the contest on Saturday, winning by over 62 points in Alaska, 40 points in Hawaii, and 46 points in Washington.
These numbers are just the sort of strong showing necessary to keep Sanders competitive in this lively Democratic primary race. One can expect to see Clinton looking more nervous in days to come, possibly stepping up her attacks on a candidate she was preparing to forget.
