Quite frankly, it doesn’t matter if Trump is secretly the sweetest guy anyone could ever be with a literal heart of gold because his little dog and pony show has already done irreversible damage to his party and this nation.

Nevertheless, Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was caught on Thursday talking privately to some top Republican politicians, saying that the Donald Trump we have seen in this election is really mostly an act, and one that can be shifted swiftly to fit the needs of those around him.

The Associated press obtained a copy of the recording.

“When he’s out on the stage, when he’s talking about the kinds of things he’s talking about on the stump, he’s projecting an image that’s for that purpose,” Manafort said in a private briefing.

“You’ll start to see more depth of the person, the real person. You’ll see a real different guy.”

“He gets it. The part that he’s been playing is evolving into the part that now you’ve been expecting, but he wasn’t ready for, because he had first to complete the first phase. The negatives will come down. The image is going to change.”

These comments made by Manafort are not dissimilar to ones made by Dr. Ben Carson during his Trump endorsement speech when he suggested that there are two Trumps.

Manafort and others are still having to work hard to win over the favor of GOP officials and party leaders, thought I can’t imagine why anyone would be enthusiastic about a candidate presented as “just playing a part.”
