Donald Trump may talk a big talk about politicians and their scheming ways, but then he openly declares that he intends to take on a popular platform of another candidate. On Wednesday morning with five more states in his pocket, Trump did the on-the-phone circuit of news media, bragging about his wins and beginning to turn his negative attention toward the Democratic race.

Trump was asked about Bernie Sanders and the real estate mogul showed respect for his Democratic opponent, at least in terms of the ways that Sanders has attacked Clinton so far.

“Well Bernie Sanders has a message that’s interesting. I’m gonna be taking a lot of things that Bernie’s said and, uh, using them. I can reread some of his speeches, I can get some, y’know, in many ways, she shouldn’t be there. He said some things about her that are actually surprising.”

“He said that she’s got bad judgement. When he said ‘bad judgement,’ I said ‘Sound bite!'”

Trump then returned to the message he tweeted on Tuesday, suggesting that Sanders could have another path to stay in the race.

“Bernie has been very effective but been treated very badly by the Democrats and by the Democratic party and uh, Frankly should run as an Independent, I think.”

If dirty little Trump thinks that Sanders supporters are so anti-Hillary and indifferent to Trump that they would jump from a campaign platform of peace and equality to one of hatred and warmonger divisiveness, he’s got another think coming.

Watch.
