Even though they were standard as recently as twenty years ago – you won’t find many computers that use the old 3 and a half inch floppy disk anymore. And you’d have an even harder time finding a computer that could use the even older 8 inch floppy disks. Unless – of course – you visited the Pentagon and wanted to coordinate nuclear forces – in which case you’d find a 53 year old IBM system running on 8 inch floppy disks. So what impact does this have on the basic functions of government agencies – and what is the plan for updating these archaic computing systems?
