During a segment on “Real Time,” host Bill Maher used his characteristic prickly attitude and his penchant for explaining things to lesser beings to try to explain what socialism really is to Conservatives.
Considering that the GOP has been able to rely on the boogeyman of “Socialism” to sell capitalism for decades, it was a lesson that will be hard learned.
Instead of blaming socialism, Maher posits, we should blame the free reign of capitalism paired with fear-mongering unconditional anti-socialism narrative.
“Someone needs to explain to the free-market crowd that when it comes to socialism, you’re soaking in it. So many Americans hate the word ‘socialism’ but love the concept: Medicare, unemployment, disability, farm subsidies. Forget the transgender debate. What America really needs is a separate bathroom for welfare queens.”
