As is usual, Donald Trump made a remark on Tuesday evening at a rally that many will not soon forget as he said that American soldiers in Iraq pocketed thousands of dollars of American taxpayer money during the Iraq war.

Since making the comment, the Trump campaign has backtracked aggressively, saying that Trump was clearly referring to Iraqi soldiers, not Americans – to most, that distinction did not appear clear at all.

“How about bringing baskets of money into Iraq? I want to know — who were the soldiers who had that job? I want to know who were the soldiers that had that job, ’cause I think they’re living well right now, whoever they may be.”

This wouldn’t be the first anti-military comment Trump has made, a move that should be political suicide for a candidate pretending to be hard-line GOP. But considering that he’s all they have, the likes of Paul Ryan and the others will try to sweep this comment under the rug just like all the rest.
