Though it is off to a less-than-perfect start, Senator Bernie Sanders officially launched Our Revolution on Wednesday evening with an online streaming event.

Speaking from the event being hosted in his hometown of Burlington, Vermont, the Senator addressed his supporters for the first time since the Democratic convention. But this time, he wasn’t telling them that he had given up the fight and would endorse Clinton. Rather, he was telling the millions who voted for him that he had created a new way forward.

Our Revolution is to be a 501c Non-profit, meaning that it cannot devote all of its resources to political action, but may devote just under half if so desired. The rest of the funding and resources must be devoted to public service of some kind.

The organization is currently being led by former Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver. He is a recent addition to the organization and his addition created quite a stir, causing 8 key leadership members to step down and disassociate themselves from the organization.

Chiefly, they opposed to the 501c status, as it would allow an unchecked amount of donations from anonymous donors, making it similar to the corruption Sanders railed against during his candidacy. Many also felt that Weaver had mismanaged Sanders campaign and would do the same to Our Revolution. That fate remains to be determined.

It is good to see the Senator appearing refreshed and relaxed, with a new plan of action going forward.

Watch – Sanders takes the stage at the 10:55 mark.
