Maine Governor Paul LePage has been an endless source of embarrassment for the state, but they were never as embarrassed as they are right now in the wake of his latest rage outburst against a Democratic congressman.
In a voicemail made public with LePage’s blessing, the irate governor can be heard in an expletive-laden rant against Rep. Drew Gattine after the congressman made comments decrying LePage’s well-documented racism.
In the voicemail, LePage threatened Gattine, and called him a list of colorful names. He ended his rant with the hilarious, “I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.”
But as it turns out, no one feels like saying ‘you’re welcome” to this furious Governor. In fact, the state of Maine is so overwhelmingly embarrassed of their leader that the state’s largest newspaper issued a nation-wide apology on behalf of their apparent terrible voting skills.
“Dear America: Maine here. Please forgive us – we made a terrible mistake. We managed to elect and re-elect a governor who is unfit for high office. He has a gruff exterior and blunt way of talking that some of us find refreshing, but he has shown again and again that he governs by grudge, and uses his power to beat up on people who cannot fight back.”
On one hand, we feel their pain and know that no matter what LePage’s fury does to all of America, it has the most acute effect on the state he rules over. But on the other hand, they did choose him. It seems they are at least partially to blame for the litany of hate he has spewed in the last year and beyond.
