In the interest of their Oil Baron overlords, House Republicans plan to hold an oversight meeting to determine if they can trust themselves to oversee investigations.
Yes, they’re going to meet about whether they feel they can fairly meet. Sound like hogwash?
That’s because it is.
It turns out that this group of House Republicans are trying to undermine their own credibility in order to protect the corrupt dealings of ExxonMobile after Attorneys General for New York, California, Massachusetts, and the Virgin Islands all launched investigations into the corporation.
These investigations were launched after it was determined that scientists at Exxon knew about their effects on the planet’s climate for decades, yet chose to do nothing and charge full steam ahead. Exxon has denied these facts, and House Republicans are attempting to assist them in this denial.
We’ve always known that corrupt GOP politicians were heavily involved in Big Oil, but it is shocking to see what level of depravity to which they will sink to protect their investments.
