Now that the election is over, we turn our attention to the corrupt DNC which is badly in need of purging.
First on the docket is replacing interim DNC chair Donna Brazile, a position which Senator Bernie Sanders already has a prime pick prepared.
Speaking out about the fairly leaderless movement of the party, Sanders announced on Thursday that he was backing the selection of Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison to replace Brazile as the head of the Democratic party.
Sanders choice of Ellison is a kick in the pants to establishment Democrats, especially in the wake of the loss by Hillary Clinton. The party knows that it needs an overhaul, but it will take efforts from registered Democrats and advocates like Sanders to make that change take place.
Ellison is one of two Muslims in Congress, and he worked with Sanders extensively throughout the election season. Sanders campaigned for Ellison’s re-election, which he won with ease.
Ellison introduced Sanders at the DNC and was also one of the progressives hand-picked by Sanders to help liberal-ize Clinton’s platform when she became the Democratic nominee.
Of course, Sanders was the foremost critic of former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz who mishandled the Democratic primary and infuriated millions of Sanders supporters by showing clear favoritism to the eventual nominee Clinton.
Now, Sanders is hoping to avoid that same sort of cronyism and favoritism by selecting a more progressive Democrat. If he gets his way, we are on our way to having a much more liberal 2020.
Keep your eyes on the prize, folks.
