We’re not sure that Corey Lewandowski knew the audience he was signing up to present himself before when he agreed to appear at the Oxford Union, an organization which brings together some of Britain’s greatest debating minds.

Unlike a middle-America, rust-belt university, the students of Oxford have no interest in entertaining sophomoric political ideas and misguided ideology. Which is why when a female stood to ask Lewandowski a question, he should have known it would be a hard hit.

The student named several of Trump’s most despicable cabinet picks and then asked Lewandowski,

“So my question to you is: How do you have so little self-respect that you can stand here and defend a candidate who is not only a bigot but a liar who doesn’t have the courtesy to follow through?”

The crowd hooted and cheered in agreement, but when the ruckus died down, Lewandowski could barely stutter out a response.

First he said that in fact he was sitting, not standing (‘good one!’ said the fifth grade student in the corner), before invoking Trump’s favorite campaign line.

“Here’s what it comes down to,” Lewandowski replied. “Mexico will pay for the wall and it’s very simple.”

Cue more laughter from the crowd before Lewandowski gave the equivalent of a “yes huh!” and sat in embarrassed silence.
