In this Majority Report clip, we watch CNN footage covering the scandal during which the Senate Judiciary Committee denied Jeff Sessions a federal judgeship appointment due to various allegations of racist remarks and behavior—in 1986. Surely the now Alabama senator’s views have evolved over the past 30 years. Just kidding, a Slate article today accurately calls Sessions an “outwardly racist, xenophobic, homophobic misogynist” who will destroy American civil rights.
