It is looking like Mitt Romney will face one major roadblock on his hopeful journey to becoming Secretary of State: if he wants the job, he’d better bow to the king and kiss the ring.

According to sources close to both Trump and Romney, the President-elect is considering making Romney issue a public apology to Trump before he will allow him to take a key position in his administration.

Anyone remember when Trump surrogate Omarosa said that all would bow to Trump? We may have laughed then, but this is exactly what she was talking about.

Of course, in Trump’s eyes, Romney has quite a bit to apologize for. While the rest of the Republican party was content to ride along on the Trump train, Romney continually railed against the nominee during the election, even holding a press conference to share his disdain and disbelief.

“Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. He gets a free trip to the White House and all we get is this lousy hat.”

Trump isn’t the kind to let an insult go, and his incredibly thin skin meant that we were all aware of just how upset Romney’s comments made the PEOTUS.

Romney and Trump spoke privately last week, and rumors have swirled since then that the former Governor might take the Secretary of State position. It will be a hard call for Romney to decide if an apology to the likes of Trump is worth such a large promotion. Of course, when the cards fall as they may, it is likely that anyone who touched Trump’s administration will be blacklisted for good.

Until this point, Romney has ended up on the wrong side of his party – will he remain there or try to join the new Republicans?
