Well I guess we know who didn’t get the Secretary of Veteran Affairs position she so badly wanted!

On Friday, longtime Trump loyalist Sarah Palin turned on the president-elect when she commented on his highly publicized deal with the corporation Carrier.

Through a series of tax cuts and under the table dealing, Trump was able to retain around 1,000 jobs in the U.S. that Carrier had previously said were being exported. Though Carrier is still planning to fire over a thousand of their employees, his ability to retain the thousand jobs was notable – but not free from scrutiny.

To express her displeasure, Palin penned an op-ed in Young Conservatives where she slammed these sort of back-room dealings with corporations as “crony capitalism.”

“When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent. Meanwhile, the invisible hand that best orchestrates a free people’s free enterprise system gets amputated. Then, special interests creep in and manipulate markets. Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.”

The funny thing is, Palin is absolutely right. To allow Trump to swoop in and hand out favors to one company to incentivize them to stay is providing unfair advantages to Carrier while leaving other companies out in the cold.

And what happens when another company figures they need a tax break too? Better let Trump know, he’ll come make a deal, and everyone gets good press.

For once, this ‘gun-slingin, proud-clinger of her guns, her God and her erm-Constitution,’ is right on the money, and we thank her for standing against her party to speak for her people.

Man, 2016 just keeps comin’.
