Donald Trump is just days into his presidency, and already his slew of executive orders has created irreparable damage to the United States – most recent of which includes his expected executive order barring admission of refugees from “high-risk” countries.
Though he has taken advice from the GOP and softened the ban to a less religious-based test, Donald Trump is going full-speed-ahead on his plans to bar Muslims from entering the country as immigrants in hopes that the ban will slow the influx of terror attacks and mass killings on U.S. soil.
Though this order is a racist’s wet dream, Republicans are considering making it even more extreme by possibly capping the number of refugees accepted in the country in 2017 at just 50,000, less than half of those allowed in 2016.
From Huffington Post:
“Sources briefed on the draft executive order said the list of countries targeted is not yet finalized, but those under consideration ― Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen ― are all Muslim-majority nations. Trump vowed last year to suspend immigration from “terror-prone regions” as one of his first moves.”
Trump’s extreme action, while not unexpected based on his campaign promises, will have a dramatic effect worldwide. He will face criticism from human rights organizations as well as members of his own party who encourage a more compassionate, Christ-like view of the refugees in need.
But Trump doesn’t care about that. He doesn’t care about anything but himself.
