Donald Trump has an uncanny ability to hyper-focus on the completely wrong issue in a sea of legitimate issues, effectively turning a molehill into a mountain. Everyone is familiar with this (dis)ability of his when it comes to relitigating the election and his insistence that millions showed up for his inauguration, but another molehill was revealed on Wednesday that is even more disgraceful.
During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held late Wednesday morning, Trump took the opportunity while addressing the media to defend the honor of disgraced former NSA Director Michael Flynn.
Despite knowing that Flynn lied to the administration (at best), or even colluded with the administration to reveal classified information to the Russian ambassador (at worst), Trump said that Flynn was a “wonderful man.”
Furthermore, Trump brought up his usual rival – the big, bad media, to defend the man who resigned from the administration just days ago.
“I think [Flynn] has been treated very, very unfairly by the media. As I call it, the ‘fake media’ in many cases. I think it’s really a sad thing that he was treated so badly.”
So wait just a second – your boy breaks the law and his screw-up is so severe that he is forced to resign from the office he just assumed mere weeks ago, and you’re blaming the media?
This is indefensible.
Clearly, the “media,” is only ever good when it is walking in lock-step with President Trump and his fascist authoritarianism. We need the media now more than ever, and these criticisms from Trump are only further proof of that.
Watch.
