On Thursday morning, the official Twitter account for fast food giant McDonald’s tweeted at President Donald Trump, calling him “disgusting,” and wishing for President Obama to come back.
In a now-deleted tweet, McDonalds referred to the sitting president as “a disgusting excuse of a President,” and attempted to poke at the President’s insecurities by insulting the size of his hands.
The tweet was up for about 20 minutes before being deleted, but because the internet is forever, screenshots abound.
Many guessed that the tweet was the result of a disgruntled employee or young social media hire going too far in the name of being edgy. But in the aftermath of the tweet, as Twitter was having a grand time, McDonald’s issued a follow-up tweet claiming that their account had been compromised.
Twitter notified us that our account was compromised. We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.

This attack by McDonald’s on the POTUS will no doubt be a real blow to Trump’s ego as he has always shown a great love for fast food, McDonald’s in particular. In 2002, Trump was even featured in an ad for the fast food giant, starring alongside Grimace, a big purple plush character.
The real question here is what will happen in the aftermath? Will Trump country lead a boycott of the fast food giant? If so, who will be left to eat their sad limp fries and bread sandwiches?
